Responsibilities:
This role plans, organizes, and coordinates recreation activities, leisure education, and functional leisure skills for youth with rehabilitation needs.
They conduct interviews to assess capabilities and interests, monitor progress, and collaborate with clinicians and the rehabilitation team to set therapeutic recreation goals.
They also design various instructional strategies and community reintegration activities, ensuring personalized and effective care while maintaining professional standards and documenting treatment progress.
Plans, organizes and coordinates recreation activities, functional leisure skills, and leisure education.
Interviews youth to assess capabilities/interests/barriers.
Monitor progress and recommend changes or modifications to program as required.
Consult with clinicians/physicians and other members of the rehabilitation team regarding therapeutic recreation goals for program referrals.
Coordinate activities with staff/rehabilitation team and participate in care planning meetings.
Design and use various instructional strategies, innovations, and activities that are research based, reflective of best practice, and compatible with the total program effort.
Design community reintegration activities to assist the person receiving services with their physical and cognitive needs during physical recreational/leisure activity.
Assist the youth in understanding their various needs and limitations and how to manage them during function.
Differentiate instruction and educational programs and/or projects to meet students' special interests, learning styles, and identified level of academic achievement, intellectual and physical ability, and social and emotional functioning.
Responsible to apply professional knowledge and skills in accordance with accepted standards of clinical practice, to facilitate problem resolutions, and thereby the achievement of individualized goals and outcomes for the person served.
Provide treatment progress and status documentation in accordance with the Plan of Treatment.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
