Under direction provides instruction on the middle and/or secondary level to students; assure that all students learn the basic essential skills at each grade level. Does related work as required.
Role Responsibility:
o Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the Company's philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in the adopted course study. o Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task. o Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet individual needs of students. o Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies. o Encourage student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits. o Provides progress and interim reports as required. o Prepares substitute folder containing appropriate information as required. o Plans and prescribes purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, tutors and volunteers as needed. o Recognizes learning and adjustment problems and makes referrals as appropriate. o Demonstrates a strong grasp of subject matter. o Uses effective oral and written expression. o Keeps current in the subject matter knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school's curriculum. o Assists on the on-going curriculum revision process including the revision of written courses of study. o Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities. o Models pro-social behavior and adheres to highest ethical standard. o Implements, in accordance with guidelines, reasonable rules of classroom behavior and appropriate techniques that are consistently applied. o Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. o Shares responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in all areas of the school. o Provides for the supervision of assigned students when circumstances require a brief absence from the assignment. o Upholds and enforces board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules and regulations, and is supportive of them to the public. o Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time. o Strives to communicate the positive aspects of the school program to the public in word and deed.
The Ideal Candidate:
Education, Licenses and Certifications Required Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in education or related field. o Appointees must possess a teacher's certificate or eligibility for certification as a teacher in the state where the work site is located. o Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in state where the work site is located only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Skills Required o Knowledge of the principles and techniques of middle and/or secondary education. o Knowledge of the educational challenges for high school dropouts and troubled juveniles. o Knowledge of the techniques used in group activities and classroom management. o Knowledge of assigned subject matter and related instructional technique. o Knowledge of the preparation and maintenance of accurate records. o Ability to analyze, comprehend, and interpret problems pertinent to the work involved. o Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods. o Ability to establish and maintain required records and files. o Ability to operate, inspect, and maintain equipment used in instruction activities. o Ability to observe and report performance of participants. o Ability to work harmoniously with a variety of personalities and deal diplomatically with difficult individuals. o Ability to tolerate verbal and mental abuse while maintaining a professional demeanor. o Ability to perform appropriate crisis intervention involving student behavior including physically breaking up fights in the classroom. o Ability to complete pre-service and annual in-service CPR and first aid certification training and self-defense and physical intervention training. o Ability to pass drug and TB screening and testing and criminal background check. o Ability to work under pressure; meet inflexible deadlines; set priorities; and work independently. o Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
Physical Requirements and Environment o Talking: Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey details or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly. Hearing and Vision: Ability to perceive the nature of sounds with no less than 40 dB loss at Hz, 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication. Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable employees to complete clerical tasks, and observe youth. Dexterity: Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of an object such as size, shape, and temperature. Movements frequently and regularly required using wrists, hands and/or fingers. Physical Strength: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Position is mainly sedentary work (office work), but may on occasion include physical force execution. Employee may be subject to temperature changes, but the employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside. Language: Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and ability to communicate in complex sentences using normal word order with present and past tenses. Processing and Reasoning: Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as in verbal and physical confrontations. Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions and noise. Ability to assist youth with problem solving and maintaining self-control in volatile situations.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
